Budget and Other Auto-Templates in Excel: Explained

In this article, you will learn how to create and use the built-in templates for quickly creating budget, calendar, invoice, etc. in Excel

What are some of the automatic templates available in Excel?

Excel offers several built-in templates that provide pre-designed formats and structures for various purposes. These templates provide a starting point for your specific tasks, saving you time and effort in setting up the layout and structure from scratch. They simplify the document creation process, save time and effort, and ensure consistency and professionalism. They are valuable tools for both individuals and businesses, providing a foundation for efficient data management, analysis, and reporting.

How to use the auto templates available in Excel?

To use auto templates in Excel, follow these steps:

Step 1: Launch Microsoft Excel on your computer and Click on "File" or the Office button: Look for the "File" tab at the top left corner of the Excel window in newer versions (Excel 2010 and later), or the Office button in older versions (Excel 2007).

Step 2: In the menu options, look for "New" or "New from Template" and click on it. This will open the template gallery.

Step 3: In the template gallery, you can browse through the available templates or use the search bar to find specific templates. The templates are organized into different categories such as budgets, calendars, invoices, project management, and more.

Step 4: After selecting a template, click on the "Create" or "Download" button (the exact wording may vary depending on your Excel version). This will open a new workbook based on the selected template and will be populated with the template's predefined structure and formats. You can now customize the template to suit your specific needs. Modify the existing content, add or remove columns, change colors, adjust formulas, and add your data.

Step 5: Once you have customized the template to your satisfaction, click on "File" > "Save" to save the customized workbook. Choose a location on your computer to save the file, provide a name, and click on "Save".
