How to Convert Values to Percentages in Google Sheets
This article will teach you how to represent values as a percentage in Google Sheets. This useful formatting tip can be achieved in just a few steps as shown below.
- Select the cell(s) you wish to change to percentage format.
- With your desired cells selected, you will select ‘Format’ from the toolbar, and then ‘Number’ from the drop down menu. This will allow you to select how your number will be formatted. We want to select ‘Percent’.
- Your selected cells will now be formatted as percentages. The last step to ensure your percentages are formatted correctly is to adjust the number of decimal places shown. To do this, you will need to head to the toolbar at the top and select one of the two decimal options. The first option is to decrease the number of decimal places, and the second is to increase the number of decimal places. Select the appropriate option until you are satisfied and you are done!
As shown in column D in the example above, your values will now be represented as a percentage. This allows you a convenient, standardized, and easily understandable way to communicate information, facilitating comparisons and analysis across different contexts.
